  • Deter poaching and illegal trade in wildlife and their body parts.

  • Maintain a strong surveillance network within forest areas using forest watchers, anti-poaching watchers, and informant networks.
  • Deploy modern tools like drones, camera traps, GPS, and GIS for effective monitoring.

Law Enforcement and Legal Action

  • Enforce relevant laws such as the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
  • Investigate forest offenses and ensure prosecution of offenders through legal means.

Fire Management

  • Prevent and control forest fires through fire lines, early warning systems, and community participation.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns and fire drills for preparedness.

Coordination with Other Agencies

  • Collaborate with police, revenue departments, and customs to control inter-state forest crimes and wildlife trafficking.
