Daily relief assistance to marine fishermen apprehended in neighbouring countries

The Government supports the families of fishermen who are apprehended by the neighbouring countries while fishing by providing daily allowance of Rs.500/ day (Rs. 15,000/- per month) (except the day of apprehension and repatriation).

Eligibility Criteria to avail the assistance

1 . The Fishermen apprehended in other countries while fishing should be a member of Fishermen Co-operative Society

2. The arrest of the fishermen should be confirmed by the Embassy of India in the country where fishermen apprehended.

3. The arrested fishermen should not indulged in any illegal activities.

Documents to be enclosed by the applicant

1. Fishermen Co-operative Society Member Document

2. Letter from foreign embassy confirming the arrest of the fishermen

3. Certification of not involved in any illegal activities

4. Copy of Fishermen identity card
