Daily Relief assistance to the Families of Missing Fishermen

The State Government is providing daily relief assistance of Rs.350/day (Rs. 10,500/ month) to the families of fishermen who went missing while fishing at sea. The daily relief assistance will be provided for two years from the date of missing, till the date they receive monetary benefits for death through Group accident Insurance scheme/ Tamil Nadu Fishermen Welfare Board.

Eligibility Criteria to avail the assistance

1. The missing fishermen must be a fishermen and member of Fishermen Co- operative Society

2. Application must be submitted along with First Information Report (FIR) from Local Police Station, attested by the concerned local Inspector/Sub- Inspector of Fisheries to the concerned Assistant Director of Fisheries

3. A pledge letter from the local village administration stating that the missing fishermen is not found in the village for more than 30 days from the date of missing and not involved in any illegal activities

4. Pledge letter from fishermen family regarding, if the missing fishermen was found involved in any illegal activities, the amount received from Government as daily relief will be refunded.

Documents to be enclosed by the applicant

1. Member Certificate of Fishermen Co-operative Society

2. First Information Report (FIR) from the nearest Police Station from the berthing place of fishing boat.

3. Proof from Village Administrative Officer claiming that the missing fishermen was not found in the village for 30 days

4. Bond from the applicant to return the daily relief assistance if the missing fisherman was found again.

5. A certificate from the Village Administrative Officer stating that missing fishermen was not involved in any illegal activities

6. Copy of Fishermen identity card
